2005-06
Save the Albatross Campaign
In 2005-06, the Volvo Ocean Race commenced its long-term partnership with the Save the Albatross Campaign and set up its Ocean Watch environmental programme in partnership with Wallenius Wilhelmsen.
Many events were held in stopovers around the world by the various BirdLife partners and in collaboration with the Volvo Ocean Race and its competitors. The crews participated fully in supporting this campaign.
This campaign worked actively with BirdLife partners around the world to bring the plight of the albatross to the international media.
