2011-12 Keep the Oceans Clean
In association with the artists collective Skeleton Sea, the Keep the Oceans Clean campaign was designed to inspire people of all ages, but particularly children, to take action against the estimated 100 million tonnes of plastics and other materials polluting our oceans.
Thousands of Race Village visitors joined race staff, sailors and shore crew in community Beach Cleans and sculpture workshops that produced innovative and thought-provoking art from ocean debris.
Newspapers and broadcasters around the world featured the Beach Cleans and workshops that were held at every stopover, and around 140,000 people visited the Keep the Oceans Clean dome to learn more.
