Vesper Marine’s Guardian AIS system is being utilised by the race organisers of the Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) for the In Port Races, to manage safety of the large number of on-water spectator boats.

Auckland based Vesper Marine is a global provider of marine safety products for recreational and commercial vessels, aids to navigation and marine asset protection solutions. Vesper Marine's award-winning smartAIS transponders and Guardian Asset Protection systems are designed for performance and are backed by outstanding technical support.

Vesper Marine smartAIS
smartAIS transponders from Vesper Marine have built-in safety alarms that proactively warn users of potential collision situations, if an anchor drags or in case of a man overboard. These alarms are viewable on the user’s transponder display, MFDs, smartphones, tablets or smartwatches allowing mariners to take immediate action.

Vesper Marine Guardian
Guardian:protect is a 24/7 protection system that prevents vessel collisions with subsea and sea-surface installations or marine hazards. Using Automatic Identification System (AIS), it gives vessels visibility of hazards via their electronic navigation systems.

Vesper Marine’s Guardian AIS system is being utilised by the race organisers of the Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) for the In Port Races, to manage safety of the large number of on-water spectator boats. Establishing a virtual fence around the course, the Guardian Virtual AIS stations broadcast information to spectator boats and local vessels using AIS frequencies – painting the course on dedicated navigation systems and AIS displays in range. As a result, spectator and official vessels can quickly and easily see their own positions relative to the course boundaries on their navigation displays to ensure they are safely outside the course at all times. In addition, the Guardian cloud software continuously monitors vessel positions and proactively sends both the vessel and the VOR organisers an alert if a hazardous situation develops.

The virtual marks can be configured remotely to change with conditions and the Guardian system can be easily moved to each host city using the same hardware and cloud based software.
