What he does: He leads the Volvo Ocean Race
Who he is: Mark's first experience in the Race came back in 1989-90 when, at just 22 years old, he sailed in the Whitbread Round the World Race onboard British Defender. Since then, he has competed in many of sailing's top events - and in the 2000s, he masterminded Dame Ellen MacArthur’s Vendée Globe and solo circumnavigation campaigns, which gained worldwide attention. Through his company OC Sport, recently sold to the Telegramme Group in France, Mark has launched various adventure sports events, including cycling's Haute Route and the original stadium sailing event, the Extreme Sailing Series. He returned to the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race to lead the Dongfeng Race Team project.

Something about him that you don't know: Mark is an adrenaline junkie and loves sport. As well as sailing, he's a keen cross-country and touring skier, cyclist and he's currently trying long distance open water swimming!
