Team AkzoNobel pull-down test

Just a few days after being revealed to the world for the first time, team AkzoNobel's eye-catching Volvo Ocean 65 is already in the water – and has passed an all-important pull-down test.

The test is designed to subject the hull of the newly-built One Design boat to stresses beyond those it will experience in the race. The test was carried out in Lisbon with many members of the Dutch-flagged crew onboard.

With the start of the 2017-18 edition just 134 days away, skipper Simeon Tienpont and his crew will be delighted to know that their boat is fit to race in the toughest conditions on Earth
