The St Lucia Channel Swim has agreed to support the UN Environment #CleanSeas campaign, celebrating with their July Channel swim.
The 6 - 8 July 2018, the event will incorporate the channel swim from St Lucia to Martinique, an Open Water Swim Meet, and an Open Water Swim Clinic. The event is supported by the Department of Youth Development & Sports, Department of Tourism, and Events Company St Lucia.
The event has taken the #CleanSeas pledge as it strongly believes anyone involved in marine activities and open water activities should take an active part in Turning The Tide On Plastics. It has pledged to use refillable water bottles, avoid products that use microbeads, reduce the use of single use plastics and limit plastic packaging, plus say no to straws.
Onsite, 5 gallon bottles of water with a pump will be used and reusable water bottles will be given to registered participants. A waste management company, Greening the Caribbean, will help the event in providing avenues to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastics as well as other materials. Prizes given to participants will be sourced locally, from local artisans and natural products from St Lucia.
Sign up to #CleanSeas and make your pledge to reduce plastic pollution.
