Clean Ocean Access: Community action for Ocean health, in Newport

June 15, 2018 07:47 UTC

Clean Ocean Access has become part of the UN Environment #CleanSeas campaign.

Clean Ocean Access (COA) was founded in 2006 in Newport, in an effort to solve local issues linked to water quality and access. The organisation’s three goals are to eliminate marine debris (Clean), improve coastal water quality (Ocean) and to protect and preserve shoreline access (Access). It is inspired by cultivating friendships within the community, with a unified desire of working together, taking good care of the environment, and living healthy lives.

COA had a key role during the Newport stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18, implementing Sustainability activations in association with the race's Sustainability Programme team and its local Sustainability Committee.
