    The Ocean Race

Date of Birth: 1969

In: United Kingdom

Legs sailed in this edition: 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
In-Port Races: Alicante, Lisbon, Cape Town, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Auckland, Itajaí, Newport, Cardiff, Gothenburg, The Hague

Something about him that you don't know: His sailing heroes are British Volvo Ocean Race veteran Paul Standbridge and veteran maxi yacht sailor Kym “Shag” Morton; and his inspirational figure is his grandfather, Bryan Salter.

Before committing to sailing, Jules studied Law, achieving both a Bachelors and Masters degree as well as a legal practice certificate.

Who he is: Universally recognised as one of the world’s best racing navigators, Jules was born on the Isle of Wight and grew up racing on the capricious waters of the Solent. Inspired by the teams from around the world who came to Cowes for premiere events like the Whitbread Race and Admiral’s Cup, he soon became a familiar face on the international yacht racing scene. Jules has three Volvo Ocean Races to his name, including a win in 2008-09 with Ericsson Racing sailing with Brad and Joca. This will be his first race around the world in identical one-design boats – a welcome new challenge that he believes will make the race all the more exciting.

Previous Volvo Ocean Race:
2011-12 Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing
2008-09 Ericsson 4
2005-06 Pirates of the Caribbean
