Benny Van de Wouw

Department: The Boatyard

What he does: He's responsible for the hardware (structures) of our Race Villages around the world, such as the Dome, Volvo Ocean 65 cross section and the Boatyard. He also looks after the delivery of our B2B structures in each stopover.

Who he is: A spontaneous Dutch guy, always with a smile his face, Benny loves his job and has a crazy eye for detail.

He speaks: Dutch, English and German

Something about him that you don't know: Benny worked for years in the circus, and, well, nothing really changed - after all, the Volvo Ocean Race is really just one big sailing circus around the world. In 1987 he had a brush with fame, as the guy sitting on the back of the rhino in the music video for Def Leppard's 'Animal'… you can find it on Youtube.
